Module in AI Marketing Manager
SEO for WordPress, built for AI search too
The CitationLab plugin handles titles, social previews, redirects, sitemaps and schema on your WordPress site, gives you the tools you need to be cited by AI engines, and connects the site to Manager so every change can be followed up.
The WordPress plugin is the module in CitationLab AI Marketing Manager that connects a WordPress site to the platform. It is a complete SEO plugin covering meta tags, Open Graph, redirects, 404 monitoring, XML sitemaps and schema, with tools for AI search such as an llms.txt editor, entity analysis and citation-ready content scoring. Once the site is connected, Manager and your AI agents can update it, and the changes are logged and measured.
01The problem
WordPress sites collect plugins, not answers
A typical WordPress site runs one plugin for SEO, another for redirects, a third for sitemaps and something else again for security. Each has its own settings, and none of them tells you whether ChatGPT or Google's AI answers can actually use your pages.
Changes happen in wp-admin and stay there. A title is rewritten, a redirect is added, a page is set to noindex by mistake, and nobody connects it to what happened to traffic two weeks later.
The CitationLab plugin brings the SEO basics and the tools for AI search together in one place, and connects the site to Manager. What you change, in wp-admin, in Manager or through an agent, can be seen, logged and measured.
02How it works
How it works
- 01 / 04
Install the plugin
Download the plugin from the Integrations page in Manager and upload it under Plugins in WordPress. The SEO features work as soon as it's activated.
- 02 / 04
Pair the site with your project
Generate a pairing code in Manager and paste it into the plugin's settings. The site is then connected to the right project, without any passwords changing hands.
- 03 / 04
Move over from your old SEO plugin
Import titles, descriptions, canonicals, robots settings and social meta from Yoast, Rank Math or All in One SEO. If you keep Yoast or Rank Math, the plugin runs alongside them without anything being output twice.
- 04 / 04
Work from WordPress or from Manager
Edit in WordPress as usual, or let Manager, Cita or your own agent update pages, meta, schema and redirects remotely. Changes made through Manager are logged as actions and followed up with post-analysis, and the plugin itself can be updated from there too.
03Inside
What you get
A complete SEO suite
Titles and meta descriptions with templates, Open Graph and Twitter Cards, canonicals and robots on posts, pages, archives and categories, a bulk editor, and SEO fields with readability analysis right in the editor.
Redirects, 404s and sitemaps
Redirects with import and export, a 404 log that tells lost visitors apart from bots probing for weaknesses, XML sitemaps for all public content, a robots.txt editor and a link scanner that finds broken links.
Schema without hand-coding
Connected structured data on every URL, plus Article, FAQ, HowTo, LocalBusiness, NewsArticle and VideoObject where they fit, with an editor when you want to adjust it.
Ready for AI search
An llms.txt editor and generator, entity analysis that shows which people, places and concepts your content is tied to, and a score for each post showing how easy it is for AI engines to quote, with advice on what to improve.
AI visibility in wp-admin
With the site connected, you see your AI visibility and competitors from AI Monitor right in WordPress, and get hallucination alerts when AI answers link to pages on your site that don't work.
Security Shield
Logs probes and failed logins per address, blocks addresses automatically or by hand, locks out repeated failed logins and can mirror blocks to Cloudflare. You can see and manage it from Manager without logging in to wp-admin.
04The outcome
What it changes day to day
- One plugin instead of separate tools for SEO, redirects, sitemaps and security
- Your site is ready for AI engines, not just for Google's blue links
- Every SEO change has a history: in the plugin's audit log and, for changes made through Manager, as a measured action
- Agents can fix what audits find, directly on the site
- Bots probing the site are seen and stopped, not just logged as 404s
05FAQ
Questions about the WordPress plugin
- Do I need to remove Yoast or Rank Math?
- No. With Yoast or Rank Math installed, the plugin runs alongside them and leaves their output alone. When you're ready to switch, the migration wizard brings over the titles, descriptions and settings you already have.
- Does the plugin work without Manager?
- The SEO features work on their own as soon as the plugin is activated. AI visibility, competitor comparison and hallucination alerts need the site connected to a project in Manager, and the AI-assisted tools use an AI key you add yourself.
- What are hallucination alerts?
- When AI engines cite your domain, they sometimes link to addresses that don't exist or no longer work. The plugin shows which cited addresses on your site are broken, so you can fix the page or add a redirect before visitors from AI answers land on an error page.
- How are changes from Manager logged?
- When Manager, Cita or a connected AI agent publishes or updates content, meta, schema or redirects on the site, the change is logged as an action in the project. Changes to pages are measured automatically with post-analysis at 7, 14 and 28 days.
- Is it safe to give Manager access to my site?
- The connection is made with a pairing code from your project, not a shared password, and the plugin's API only answers authenticated requests. Every feature can be switched on or off on its own, and critical SEO settings can be locked with a PIN.
